AbstractThe quantification of the evapotranspiration (ET) is important, mainly in handling of irrigation systems, because by knowing the loss of water by the cultures is possible to determine how much to irrigate it. Nowadays it is already possible to determine evapotranspiration using techniques of remote sensing and satellite images, through estimates of the latent heat flux. In this context, that research aims to estimate ET for an area of Triângulo Mineiro on August 16, 2008, using Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL). Reference Evapotranspiration Calculator (REF-ET) was used to calculate the evapotranspiration reference, by FAO Penman-Monteith method (PM-FAO), to compare with the result obtained by SEBAL. ET estimated by SEBAL varied from 0,00 to 8,98 mm/day, with average of 3,25 mm/day. The result found by PM-FAO method was of 5,49 mm/day, while the estimated one for SEBAL, in the pixel where the meteorological station is, was of 4,34 mm/day.
